KUCHING: The State Health Department has identified two new clusters in Betong district.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that new clusters are the Hulu Spaoh Cluster and Jelang Cluster.

“The Hulu Spaoh Cluster is a community cluster where a total of 48 people were screened —20 of them were positive including the index case, two tested negative and another 26 are waiting for their test results,” it said.

All of the positive cases were referred to Sarawak General Hospital and Betong Hospital and were admitted to Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Betong.

“The Jelang Cluster is also a community cluster detected at a longhouse in Jelang, Spak.

“A total of 141 people were screened where 22 of them were positive including the index case and 119 others were negative,” it added in a statement yesterday (May 18).

All of the positive cases were referred to Betong Hospital and were admitted to PKRC Betong.

Meanwhile, the committee also declared the end of the Sungai Selitut Custer in Tatau yesterday.

“Currently, the state has 84 active clusters where 12 of them recorded 77 additional cases,” it said.

On another note, it revealed that the Lundu district had changed its status to orange zone after recording 29 local transmission cases in the past two weeks.

“This brings the state to two orange zones and 25 red zones. Eight districts remain as yellow zones and five districts remain as green zones,” it mentioned.
