BINTULU:  The State health department is carrying out contact tracing for Covid-19 cases following the emerging of a new cluster in Kidurong, said its director Dr Chin Zin Hin yesterday.

However, he added, active case detection for Covid-19 would not be necessary.

Recently, a new cluster has emerged in Kidurong (Bintulu), where six cases were identified.

“Currently, we are still looking for the actual source of the infection (referring to the Kidurong cluster),” he said during a press conference.

Dr Chin was earlier accompanying Deputy Health Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang during his visit to Bintulu Hospital.

The Kidurong clusters (six cases) were linked to a student in Kidurong Bintulu, who was tested positive for the virus on June 12.

A total 231 close contacts (of the student) including the family have been identified.

Meanwhile, 163 of them have been screened and turned out to be negative.
