SERIAN: Seventeen students in Bukit Semuja constituency received education aid to further their studies at public and private universities.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus presented the financial assistance at the Serian Community Hall here last Friday.

“Such assistance is an ongoing programme to support the students in getting tertiary education,” he said.

The programme was organised by Bukit Semuja Education Bureau in collaboration with Bukit Semuja Service Centre to promote the importance of education.

At the event, John also presented personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of face masks and hand sanitisers to two secondary schools — SMK Serian and SMK Taee.

Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants were also given to religious bodies such as Islamic Welfare Organisation Malaysia (Perkim) Sarawak, Sarawak Islamic Festival Celebrations Committee, St Theresa Parish, St Helen Parish as well as Chinese associations here.
