Designers out to bowl fashion buffs over

KUCHING: The inaugural ‘Best of Asean Designers’ (BOAD19) event is set to wow fashion enthusiasts here, and will feature upcoming designers and ready-to-wear labels, among others.

Happening from Sept 6-8 at The Spring Mall, BOAD19 is an event not to be missed.

Fadzil is now based in Dubai with his atelier brand, CHANTIQUE.

Brunei fashion designer Fadzil Hadin, now based in Dubai, will showcase his CHANTIQUE collection, a combination of Asian and Middle Eastern influence.

Influenced by the industry since young, Fadzil turned his passion into a booming business in 2017 and has expanded his label to oil-rich Dubai.

Fadzil received the prestigious “Modest Fashion Award” from The Islamic Fashion and Design Council in Torino, Italy and has showcased his style at the Modest Soiree fashion show during the Milan Fashion Week last year.

Fadzil’s designs exude a unique feminine and romantic feel, with its play on ethnic heritage and use of embellishments, embroidery and beadworks.

Meanwhile, representing Singapore, Hayden Ng is among the prominent names in the island republic’s fashion industry, especially with celebrities.

Hayden continues to promote young talents around the Southeast Asian region.

Well known for his elegant evening gowns and cocktail dresses, his eponymous boutique HAYDEN was his first milestone.

The boutique was opened soon after he had an opportunity to dress Miss Universe Singapore in 1987 who was selected among the Top Ten finalists.

In 1988, Hayden then headed to Australia and China. He was also chief costume designer for the Singapore National Day Parade from 2001 to 2003.

His love for fashion has driven him to contribute his efforts to expand the industry through books and events.

Contributed his knowledge through the Singapore Armed Forces Commemorative Book titled “Giving Strength to Our Nation: The SAF and Its People”, his article on “Uniform-Fashion vs Function” explained the importance of art and culture that celebrates both women and men in SAF, past and present.

A pioneer of the Asean Fashion Designers Showcase, an independent NGO which was established in 2015, Hayden continues to lend his support to promote young talents around the Southeast Asian region.
