SIBU: Destiny for Children Sibu (DFCS), a non-governmental organisation here has celebrated its fifth year anniversary at its learning centre in Sibu Life Care Society yesterday. The celebration was led by its centre-in-charge, Pauline Rogers Jaban by cutting a cake.

According to its administrative staff, Ching Mee Mee, DFCS, which set up five years ago currently, has 89 students aged between five and 12 years. These children, she said were s tateles s or non-Malays ian children, who were not able to study in the national school with majority of the children were of thos e Indones ians married to the locals and unable to register as Malaysian citizens.

Among others, she said, the objective of DFCS was to provide learning that would ensure a better future for them and to help the children develop a positive perspective of their life. “The subjects taught here are Mathematic, Bahasa Malaysia, English, Art, Moral and Outdoor Games.

“We want to ensure that the children studied in our centre be able to know the basic skills of writing, reading and solving mathematical problems,” she stated. Apart from that, DFCS with five teaching staff needed wholly financial support from the public to run the centre.
