MIRI: Following an inaccurate statement issued recently in the newspapers regarding 99 confirmed Covid-19 cases of unknown origin in Miri, the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) revealed that the Miri Division Health Office (DHO) had completed a detailed case investigation of all reported cases and their movements.

This was to identify their close contacts (home, work, social) within the infection period.

All close contacts were given the quarantine order, wristband and swab done at the Miri Indoor Stadium One Stop Centre.

Based on all case investigations done, there was one per cent classified as unknown origin.

Wider net of contacts for screenings was implemented for such cases.

Majority were close contacts to known Covid-19 clusters or had significant exposure history to travelling to other divisions known to have cases or had risk factors for transmission of disease.

Miri DDMC advised the public not to issue inaccurate statements and cause undue panic among the community.

The public had also been told to be vigilant and continue practising the 3Cs (Crowded, Confined and Close Conversation) and adopt 3Ws (Wash, Wear and Warn) as advocated by the Ministry of Health.
