KUCHING: The Limbang Lawas Local Plan 2035 project is being studied comprehensively to ensure the sustainability of development both districts.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stressed the study will ensure there is a balanced approach in the physical and economic planning for Limbang and Lawas.

“This is because various rapid projects are being implemented in the Limbang and Lawas, such as industrial projects, bridges, airports, the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road (SSLR) Project, and the Pan Borneo Highway.

“In addition to the Limbang Lawas Local Plan 2035, there are two other equally important projects, namely the Miri City Local Plan 2035 and the Sibu Town Local Plan 2035,” he said in his speech during the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development ‘s Excellence Service Award (APC) ceremony at Sheraton Hotel here yesterday (May 1).

“I also urge for completed projects to be evaluated or examined for their usage.

“If completed projects cannot be utilised for certain reasons, immediate action should be taken to address them so that they can be beneficial to the people,” he added.

On another note, Awang Tengah said 2024 is a critical year for his ministry as they are halfway through the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“Which means we have only a year and a half left to complete all the projects approved under the 12MP before we are heading to the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

“We need to further work hard to ensure that all existing projects are fully implemented before competing for more new projects.

“Our capability and efficiency in project management will surely be evaluated before considering approval for new project allocations under the 13MP,” he added.

He urged all the departments and agencies under the ministry to closely monitor all projects as any of the projects that are still in the planning stage should be initiated promptly and completed by the year 2025.

“If there are projects that cannot be implemented due to certain reasons, take immediate action to transfer the allocation to other projects in need,” he stated.
