BAU:  The outcome of the first meeting on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is expected to be announced on Jan 3.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the details would be disclosed to the public after a meeting with the Sarawak Consultative Committee.

“It was a good meeting with the Prime Minister,” said Johari when asked by pressmen during Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep’s Christmas open house at his residence at Bung Konis, Kampung Tanjung Bowang  here.

He said the committee had given Sarawak’s views on matters enshrined in MA63 and the Federal Constitution.

“I will call a meeting on Jan 3 to inform the State Consultative Committee and after that, the details will be made public,” he said.

On Dec 17, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad chaired the steering committee meeting to review the MA63 as part of the federal government’s effort to restore Sabah and Sarawak’s status as equal partners in Malaysia.
