DARO: The construction of Batang Paloh Bridge is not only a complement to the coastal road network, but also accelerates the transformation of development in the central region of Sarawak.

Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the impactful project is one of the government’s gifts for the people.

He said the implementation of the project was also in line with the implementation of an integrated development plan.

“This effort is very important for developing the coastal areas in multiple ways, especially agriculture, as well as boosting the various economic potential of the area in the long run.

“In addition to the Paloh bridge, the construction of the Sarikei-Tanjung Manis road, Batang Rajang bridge and Batang Lassa bridge are some of the complementary components of the coastal road which show the commitment of the state government in bringing development to the people,” he said when met at the Paloh Bridge Earth-breaking ceremony in Semop today(Aug 22).

Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab said, the construction of the Paloh bridge proved the government’s determination to build the best facilities.

He said the facility was also seen as a complement to the Pan Borneo Highway project which is going on from Lundu up to northern Sarawak.

“Of course, this impactful project is the dream and hope of the people, especially the farmers and fishermen in the Tanjong Manis area, particularly Pulau Bruit.

“Therefore, in representing all the people of Tanjong Manis, I thank Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is always concerned about our needs in this area.

“Hopefully with this effort, our plan to develop this area would run smoothly,” he said.

The 1.7 kilometer bridge is set to connect Pulau Bruit with Tanjung Manis and replacing the Sungai Serdeng ferry once completed.
