MIRI: The rural transformation projects (RTPs) are game changers in the development of rural constituencies such as Telang Usan, said its assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

He said the RTP projects implemented by the Sarawak government have brought new landscapes at longhouses and settlements in the constituency.

“These people-centric projects have transformed the landscape of all longhouses and settlements in the constituency of Telang Usan, one of the most remote constituencies in the state but not left out and always under the radar of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government and its leadership,” he said.

He assured that the GPS government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg would spare no effort in developing the rural areas through its RTP initiative.

“I dare say that when we talk about development and making promises, they are not political rhetoric because we are in election mood,” Dennis said during a prayer event to commemorate the start of construction work on the Long Pillah community hall, road and drainage system projects in Ulu Baram last Friday.   He revealed that for 2020 alone, another 24 Rural Transformation Projects (RTPs) ranging from village multipurpose halls, village roads, drainage system, upgrading of churches and sport fields at various longhouses and settlements throughout the constituency had been approved and ready for implementation.
