SARIKEI: Sarikei is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the people of Sarawak are very lucky to have a far-sighted and authoritative leader.

“The implementation of various new development projects here proves the government’s strong commitment in providing facilities for the locals.

“Agro-agriculture projects and the construction of Rajang Bridge and Jalan Sarikei-Tanjung Manis are part of the government’s efforts to improve the economic status of the people,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the closing ceremony of the community programme held in Rumah Keli, Sungai Minus here on Monday (Oct 5).

The programme was organised by the Department of Community Development (Kemas).

Huang said the development here is the result of the chief minister’s concern.

“This effort contributes towards development in various sectors,” he said.

On the programme, he said that it is able to strengthen the relationship between members of the community.
