KUCHING: Ongoing development projects in Sarikei are set to bring forth prosperity and boost the socio-economic status of people in the area.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said among others, the high impact projects are the construction of Jalan Pasi to Tanjung Manis road, Agro Park and Collection, Processing, and Packaging Centre (CPPC).

“The people of Sarawak are very fortunate because of the leadership of our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who has the foresight to develop Sarikei as a high-income district in the future.

“And this can be seen from the various high impact projects that have been approved by the Premier in Sarikei,” he said.

He said this during the 2023 New Year celebration hosted by the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Sarikei branch at Sarikei Central Hall on Friday evening.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, said that he would continue his best to develop not only the urban areas but also the rural areas while bringing more development to the longhouses, schools and houses of worship.

He also conveyed his appreciation to the people in Sarikei for their support in the last 15th general election (GE15) and that he was able to be appointed as the federal deputy minister in the federal Cabinet led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2023. I hope that the new year will bring more happiness and prosperity to all.

“The Chinese New Year is also coming soon, and I hope everyone is healthy and able to celebrate with joy with your friends and family,” said Huang.
