KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy call from the Diabetes Malaysia Sarawak Branch at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today.
The visit, led by its chairman Dr William Voon, was to invite the Governor to become the new patron of the non-governmental organisation (NGO).
“It is a tradition for the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak to be the patron of Diabetes Malaysia Sarawak Branch.
“Therefore, we have come here to personally invite him to be our patron,” he told reporters after the courtesy call.
Dr Voon added that the Head of State appeared positive about the invitation and will officially begin his role once he accepts the position.
