KUCHING: A dialogue session was held at Rumah Jeff Anchum with village dwellers from Bukit Limau, Sg Nat and Sg Lamah last Saturday.

Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said issues discussed were on basic amenities, survey of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land, and current politics in the Marudi constituency.

“The state government is currently implementing the rural electricity supply project (RES N76 Phase 1) in the area.

“Besides that, a road upgrading project worth RM2.8 million will be implemented at any time after Public Works Department (JKR) has completed its procurement process,” he said in a Facebook post last Saturday.

During the ceremony, Penguang also announced a minor rural project (MRP) grant to the longhouse’s Village Safety and Development Committee (JKKK) worth RM15,000 as well as an allocation of RM5,000 to its Women Bureau.

He also announced a longhouse repair allocation worth RM24,000 for Rh Jeff Anchum.

“I have also visited the rural transformation programme (RTP) site to resurface the front and the entrance road to the longhouse worth RM100,000 which has been fully completed,” he said.

Also present were political secretary to the chief minister Alexander Asing Sadai, Marudi District Council chairman Edward Mendai, and other community leaders.
