KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Branch Youth chief Lewis Liew Leong Yee has arranged a dialogue with community leaders of Tabuan Jaya together with Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohamad yesterday.
Liew, in a statement, said such an activity was mainly to let community leaders bring the problems in their area, especially on the fire hydrant, to the attention of the head of the station.
There was also a ceremony to hand over fire extinguishers to the headmen at the Tabuan Jaya area, which were donated by community leader Penghulu Datuk Pui Chow Hin.
“It was also mentioned in the meeting that some firefighting awareness activities are to be held in Tabuan Jaya area,” he said.
Liew reminded the public to take care of the fire hydrant in front of the house together to avoid vandalism.
“In case of fire, fire hydrants play an important role. If there are any activities to raise awareness of fire prevention in the area, the public should actively participate and enhance knowledge on fire prevention,” he added.
Present at the event was SUPP Batu Lintang Branch members and community leaders, Pui, Kapitan Ethan Tan, Kapitan Tan Qiu Lian, Kapitan Tan Yit Sheng, Tuai Rumah Lipih, Tuai Rumah Maria, Tuai Rumah Edward and Tuai Rumah Ongom.
