Dialogue provides useful updates on the matters affecting people

MUKAH: The Community Solidarity (Neighbourhood Watch) dialogue at Kampung Seri Tellian multipurpose hall here today provided useful updates and insights into certain matters affecting the people.

The one-day event was organised by the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry’s Social Development Council in collaboration with Mukah Resident’s Office, National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN), and Mukah district office.

The event proper began with a talk from JPNIN, which was presented by its Mukah divisional officer Lau Siew Yen.

It was followed by talks on issues affecting youth such as teen pregnancy, healthcare, crime prevention and volunteer smartphone patrol (VSP), drug and substance abuse from the Welfare Department, Health Department, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and police.

The talks also touched on issues affecting adults such as crime prevention and VSP, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts as well as adult healthcare.

There was also a community dialogue involving Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Land and Survey Department, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), and Agriculture Department.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo, who officiated at the closing ceremony, hoped that a similar event would be held in other locations in future.

Mukah Resident Hamdiah Bakir in her welcoming speech said the first series of the dialogue was organised in Balingian sub-district previously.

Exhibition by government departments and agencies as well as futsal competition was also organised in conjunction with the dialogue.

Acting Mukah district officer Peleadzman Ahip and Pemanca Mohamad @ Jali Kawi also attended the event.
