SERIAN: Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus recently visited the only private dialysis centre here.

He was briefed on the centre’s function and background by Persatuan Kebajikan Mawar Serian chairman Dr Kiu Chiong Chin.

After that, John presented funds from the state government worth RM10,000 to Dr Kiu.

“The fund is very much needed to meet the monthly administrative and general expenses,” said Dr Kiu.

He also hoped that more people would make similar contributions to lighten the burden for the good of the needy.

The dialysis service was started in 2012 by a private sector organisation at the bazaar. Later, it was continued by another private sector organisation to provide similar services but moved to the ground floor of MRC headquarters at Taman Pasir.

Only recently, Persatuan Kebajikan Mawar Serian took over and continues to provide the same service to the patients. The centre is managed by the same team of experienced and friendly staff.

Meanwhile, the centre’s unit manager Lo Kim Yung revealed that a team comprising herself, six Renal-trained staff, two nurse staff, three dialysis assistants and a cleaner managed the centre.
