SIBU: Marine police seized diesel fuel along with a tanker truck worth a total of RM115,800 in Ops Landai for offenses committed under the Control of Supply Act 1961 in Jalan Sibu-Bintangor on Saturday (Feb 19).

Sarawak Region Five Marine Police Commander ACP Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali in a statement on Sunday (Feb 20) said, two local men aged 31 and 27 were arrested to assist in investigations.

“At 9.30pm, a team of three members of the unit made an inspection along Jalan Sibu-Bintangor and detained and inspected two local men and a Nissan Hino tanker truck with a fuel load of 12,000 litres of diesel.

“Upon inspection, they failed to submit any documented evidence of permission to own, store and carry controlled items without a permit, without a license and without special permission from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

Zulfikar said the diesel was worth RM25,800 while the lorry tanker was estimated at RM90,000.
