DBKU’s deputy director of the Financial Services Department (FCS) Salwa Pauzi officiated at the programme at exactly 8am by waving the DBKU flag to kick off the competition today.

This programme organised by the City Library of North Kuching City Commission (DBKU) aimed to foster a culture of reading and thinking in the community.

As early as 7am, participants were already gathered at Majma Mall to do light exercises and then followed by short briefing by the competition organisers,

As it also aimed to provide exposures in terms of information, the event also could help in encouraging reading in the form of a game, thus making it more interesting.

In addition to having fun playing, there is also an element of health from a physical aspect because it is indirectly necessary to move around to find and get answers.

This is because the programme combines community skills to think through mind tests, physical endurance and participants’ understanding of interpreting, evaluating and searching for information.

At around 12 noon, all the participants gathered again at the starting point for the prize-giving session for the competition as well as the announcement of the winner of the organised TikTok creative video.

For the record, the first-place winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of RM3,000 and a medal, followed by the runner-up with a prize of RM2,000 and a medal.

Meanwhile, third place winner will receive cash amounting to RM1000 along with medals. The prize for the TikTok creative video competition will be a cash prize of RM300.

In the meantime, it is also in line with the DBKU library’s goal of promoting a culture of reading and thinking among the participants involved.
