KUCHING: The progress in communication technology has prompted an entrepreneur to use the social media to market his product, the signature Sarawak layered cake.

Operator of “Siti Payung Sarawak Layered Cake” Mohammad Hafidz Rohani, who runs the business with his wife, said online sales accounted for about 11 percent of their total sales.

The couple operates a company, Iana Corporation Sdn Bhd, where Mohammad Hafidz is the managing director.

To avoid competition from other layered cake producers, he said his company focused on producing the Sarawak roll layer cake.

“Apart from having a shop in Miri, we also have sales agents at several locations in the country as I see the potential in expanding my business through the social website.

“We have a special website at www.sitipayung.com.my, set up two years ago, where customers can make their orders and pay online,” he told Bernama.

He said their products could also be ordered through their Instagram, Youtube, Facebook and also through online shopping platforms Lazada and Shopee.
