IMMEDIATE action must be taken to ensure development in Tebedu District, says Dr Simon Sinang Bada (GPS-Tebedu).

He pointed out that the dilapidated Tebedu Clinic had been mentioned several times, including in the last Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.

“The clinic needs to be equipped with modern equipment and facilities so that people can receive quality healthcare services.

“I urge the government, especially the federal government, to seriously look into this situation,” he said on the fifth day of the 19th DUN sitting on Friday (Nov 25).

As agriculture is one of the main economic activities in Tebedu, he stressed that farmers needed all the help they can get to upgrade their knowledge, productivity and income.

“More funding is needed to provide more agriculture roads to these farmers. The budget for rural transformation programmes needs to be increased.”

On the same note, he urged that the dilapidated SK Payau be upgraded as soon as possible. “We do not want to rebuild the school only after a misfortune happens.”

Dr Simon also stressed the need to promote Lobang Batu Cave. “The cave has potential to attract tourists post-Covid.”
