SERIAN: Three places of worship in Bukit Semuja constituency were disinfected yesterday, namely St Theresa Church, St Helen Church and Masjid Nurul Ehsan in Taman Anggerek.

The disinfection programme was initiated and headed by Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus in collaboration with Serian District Council (MDS), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Health Department, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Bukit Semuja Service Centre.

According to John, apart from the disinfection activities, he also presented face masks and disinfectants which will be distributed to the community and places of worship in Bukit Semuja.

“About 5,500 families for which the heads of the family had registered with Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), will receive the face masks and more than 40 villages will benefit from the distribution of disinfectants,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He added that the distribution of disinfectants would be managed by the village heads for use of the respective villages in Bukit Semuja to disinfect places of worship and public places such as community hall.
