Distribution of food baskets in Nangka starts Monday

KUCHING: More than 8,200 food baskets will be distributed to recipients in the Nangka constituency.

Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the food distribution would start tomorrow (June 7) until Thursday (June 10).

“The workers will message the recipients and there will be home-to-home distribution for some recipients starting Monday until Thursday.

“For Sibu, there are five localities and in Nangka, we will distribute about 8,200 food baskets to eligible recipients, just like during the movement control order (MCO) in Sibu last January.

“We will send food to households who had their food supplies or incomes cut off,” he said in a livestream today (June 6).

Dr Annuar also thanked those who were tasked with distributing the food for their hard work.

“To the recipients, we hope that they remain patient; we will distribute the items as entrusted to us by the state government starting Monday.

“For those who are left out of the assistance, there is a hotline which they can contact. Do inform the workers here about the families that are left out or have been cut off from food supplies,” he said.

The Nangka assemblyman said public feedback was needed to help address the plight of those affected during the MCO.

“Work with us and help us. We need the feedback and we are not being choosy in terms of who gets the aid. We will help them,” he said.
