Good team effort.

MIRI: The Ops Nemo City 2 – Reef clean up to protect Miri ocean held this morning successfully removed a total of 193kg ghost nets within 19 nautical miles off Miri waters.

The effort was a collaboration between 20 representatives from Co.Co Dive centre, Team Borneo Ghost Nets Hunter of the Future Ocean Borneo, Miri Bomba and the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA).

NSJA’s president Andy Jong in his opening remarks lauded the effort made by Co.Co Dive centre and Team Borneo Ghost Nets Hunter of the Future Ocean Borneo for organising the activity.

Good team effort.

Ghost gear is amongst the major killers in our oceans. Fishing lines and nets were abandoned into the marine environment,” he said.

He added, ‘ghost nets’ also damaged underwater habitat and coral reefs, hence, the effort initiated by the Co.Co Dive centre and Team Borneo Ghost Nets Hunter of the Future Ocean Borneo could be considered as doing good to the marine environment.
