Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said this was a testimony to the unity among the locals contributing to the harmony that they enjoy.

He said the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for the celebrants to rekindle their relationships and reunite with the spirit of togetherness.

“Usually, families and close friends would reunite and make wishes for their longevity, prosperity and good fortune.

“The community here in Satok we live in harmony regardless of race and religion – our multi-faith and multi-ethnic society are supportive of this (Mid-Autumn Festival) celebration,” he told reporters when met here today.

Earlier, he officiated at the launch of a lantern-decorated tree at Jalan Rambutan in Satok. The tree was decorated in conjunction with the festival by the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Satok branch.

Meanwhile, SUPP Satok branch chairman Goh Leng Yeu said the lantern-decorated tree symbolises the celebration of the mooncake festival and share the joy with those frequenting the bustling area.
