SIMANGGANG: The Divisional Tourism Task Force (DTTG) is allocated support funds to organise events and festivals in their respective divisions.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said his ministry works with DTTG, local authorities and local organisations to support local tourism, arts, heritage and cultural events.

“Accordingly, every year each DTTG is allocated with support funds to organise events and festivals in their respective divisions.”

The Piasau assemblyman said this at a press conference after the State Tourism Coordination Committee (STCC) Meeting No. 2/2023 here on Monday (Oct 30).

Among other things, he explained, working closely with various development agencies and authorities throughout Sarawak.

The ministry, he added, continues to be committed to the tourism development agenda as outlined in the 2030 post-Covid-19 Development Strategy Plan.

“So, we are now working to achieve that objective by developing tourism products, promoting sustainable tourism practices, supporting events and bringing in conferences.

“Also increase the accessibility of tourist destinations, support local communities and use digital technology to improve the tourism experience in Sarawak.”

Ting requested the full cooperation of all residents in promoting tourism in every part and hoped to be able to use effective communication channels to dignify Sarawak tourism to a higher level.
