BINTULU: A total of 40 women attended a seminar on domestic violence here yesterday.

It involved members of the Federation of Sarawak Women’s Associations (PPWS) in Bintulu – Tatau District as well as some women’s non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The closing of the seminar organised by Bintulu-Tatau District PPWS was done by Bintulu MP Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing’s Special Officer Steven Kong.

Steven took a picture with the participants of the Seminar on Domestic Violence in Sarawak organised by PPWS Bintulu-Tatau District.

He hoped the seminar can inject new enthusiasm in all women to make more efforts to get involved especially in domestic violence prevention programmes.

“I am confident that it will be able to help strengthen the family institution in our country in the long term,” he said.

The one-day seminar, among other things, provided exposure and understanding on the issue of domestic violence and the existence of bodies that can help women who fall victim to domestic violence in addition to providing exposure on the laws that exist to protect women and children.
