JULAU: The interior community has been advised to support and not fear the vaccination programme as it is a protection against the Covid-19 outbreak, said Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

The Deputy Health Minister also urged the community not to fall prey to fake news regarding the negative effects of vaccination that have been circulated on social media by those who are irresponsible.

He said this during the Programme Malaysia Prihatin at Rh Sang, Rantaun Chire, Ulu Entabai last Wednesday.

“The interior community must support the immunisation programme and there is no need to be afraid of receiving the vaccine as it has been proven to be safe. It is also able to protect us from the Covid-19 outbreak.

“I hope that the interior community will update their MySejahtera Apps and register to receive the Covid-19 vaccination,” he added.

The Kanowit MP also expressed his hopes for the general public to not politicise the issue of vaccination taken by the ministers.

“Ministers are also in the high-risk group because they are always meeting the people. What is definite is that the senior citizens are the ones who will be vaccinated next then followed by those who are 18-year-old and above,” he said.

During the programme, Aaron and other honorary guests visited the site of Kemalih Health Clinic for a short briefing by the Public Works Department (PWD) on the progress of the construction works for the health clinic.

Also present for the Programme Malaysia Prihatin were Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin, Sarawak State Health deputy director Paul Sazin Riget, Sarikei Division health officer Dr Emmanuel Joseph Fung, representatives of Sarikei resident, Pakan district officer, Julau district information officer and Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) officer.
