KUCHING: Pregnant mothers are told to not be afraid to take the Covid-19 vaccines as it is safe for them and their babies.
In stressing this, Miri MP Dr Michael Teo urged the mothers to make sure that they are registered for the vaccination through the MySejahtera.
“To pregnant mothers, do not be afraid to take the vaccine, because it is safe for babies and mothers. Make sure you are registered in MySejahtera to receive the vaccine. It is for our own safety and those around us,” he said.
He said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday after visiting the Miri Division Health office and the Miri Mother and Child health clinic.
During his visit, he donated packed food to 150 health department and clinic staff.
At the same time, the MP lauded the sacrifice and commitment of frontline personnel in curbing the spread of Covid-19 infection adding that it should be appreciated by all parties.
“They are working day and night; such is the incredible sacrifice of the frontliners. Although bitter to swallow, this is the reality that frontline workers have to go through.
“The great sacrifices they have made to end the Covid-19 pandemic crisis should be appreciated by Malaysians,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Teo visited the Riamtech vaccination centre (PPV) to monitor the vaccine rollout at the centre.
During his visit, he donated packed food to the 50 PPV staff as a token of his appreciation for their efforts.
“I urge Miri residents to continue to register for the vaccine. We must play our respective roles to achieve herd immunity,” he said.
