KUCHING: Although Kuching FA have qualified for the Premier League play-off match, their head coach Ideris Untong warned his players not to be complacent. Kuching FA confirmed their play-off match against Sarawak FA after defeating Glory United 1-0 in the M3 League match played at the Sarawak Stadium here on Sunday evening.

Ideris said he told his players to stay focused and maintain their winning momentum.

“We still have two more matches to play and I have told them (players) to focus on winning the matches. I told them to win both matches because I want them to keep their confidence and maintain their winning momentum,” said Ideris when contacted by TribuneSports Tuesday.

Ideris said their next M3 League matches are against Batu 2 team on Nov 11 and against Ultimate on Nov 16. To another question, Ideris said that they would only think about the play-off match after the two matches.

If Kuching FA beat the senior Crocs in the play-off match — which date has yet to be announced — then they would qualify for next year’s Premier League and Sarawak would be relegated to the M3 League.

The east coast team collected 68 points after 26 matches, while their closest challengers, Kuching FA, emerged as the runners-up with 56 points so far.
