KUCHING: Avoid bringing backpacks or luggage bags to the church during mass. Don’t leave your bags unattended at any time.

These were among advices issued by the Catholic Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese Julian Leow Beng Kim to Catholics in Kuala Lumpur.

He gave the advice in his directive to churches in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur in view of the recent unfortunate and shocking incidents involving churches in Sri Lanka.

He also urged the people to report any suspicious individuals, unattended bags or packages to the nearest Hospitality Minister for further action.

Churches in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur have been instructed to take extra precautions and measure to increase vigilance and safety awareness among parishioners.

Leow, however, told parishioners that there was no reason to panic and the instruction was merely precautionary in nature.

“Please note that the measures above are precautionary in nature in light of recent happenings and does not relate to any actual threats.
