BALAI RINGIN: The people have been urged not to betray Sarawak for the sake of the future generations.

Balai Ringin state assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan said that if the people were to let Sarawak fall into the hands of Malaya, it would be a great betrayal to their own state.

“The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government is an expert in provoking the people and it intends to disunite us,” he said during the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally at Balai Ringin Bazaar yesterday.

Snowdan, who is also Youth and Sports Assistant Minister, said that the people of Sarawak regardless of their race and religion had been living in peace and harmony, and therefore, only GPS could preserve such unity.

“We must protect the unity among our people. Malaya-based parties don’t care about this, all they want is Sarawak’s resources,” he added.

“In 50 to 100 years to come, the future generations will thank the current state leadership for all the development and the state’s peacefulness.

“Unity is strength. GPS is going to move together not only to maintain the peace, but also to reclaim our rights,” said Snowdan.

The Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief added that for the past 55 years, when the state government was part of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, it was difficult to get them to look into the needs of the rural areas.

“If Sarawakians were to vote for PH, the rural areas will continue to be underdeveloped.

“Today, under GPS, we promise you that we will bring greater development in the rural areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu said that only GPS would be able to change the fate of the people.

“For a common goal to fight for Sarawak’s rights and protect the state, GPS is committed to fighting for a better Sarawak until the end of time.”
