SIBURAN: Distance is not a factor to a father to motivate his daughter to achieve excellent results in her studies. More so when the father concerned is a civil servant who has to work far from home to serve the country.

This was the situation experienced by a policeman, Corporal Mathew anak Bandan from Sri Aman Police Headquarters who is serving at Batu Lintang Police Station, Sri Aman.

Although Mathew is from Siburan, he said he is never tired of commuting from Sri Aman to his village in Siburan twice a month in order to motive his daughter Adeline to succeed in her studies.

“My effort is certainly worth it when Adeline achieves excellent result in her Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) which was announced throughout the country today,” he said.

Adeline scored straight As in five subjects namely Malay Language, Malay (oral), English (oral), History and Geography and Bs in four subjects namely English Language, Mathematics, Science, Commerce and Entrepreneuralship. “My advice to parents is not to make distance an obstacle to their children’s success as they need us to do that,” Mathew said.
