KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing has reproached Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for having said recently that development projects nationwide were delayed due to problems left behind by the previous government.

“It has always been his excuses. When former prime ministers Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over, they never blamed the previous government,” he told New Sarawak Tribune, yesterday.

He said instead they just shoulder their responsibilities without blaming anyone.

“Mahathir blames his administration’s incompetence on others, never on himself. His 22 years of experience as a prime minister was not without blemish or fault,” he asserted.

Masing, who is also Baleh assemblyman, said currently the rural people are fuming over the price of commodities.

“Prices of oil palm, rubber and pepper are hitting rock bottom and the cost of living is skyrocketing.

“Please, don’t tell the public that all these are because of the previous government,” he said.

He said Pakatan Harapan (PH) could not find the correct solutions to solve problems so it finds faults in others.

On Sunday, Dr Mahathir said the delay in channeling allocations to finance several government development projects did not affect Sabah alone but also other states in Peninsula Malaysia.

“The problem is we have a lot of obstacles due to the previous government,” he reportedly said after attending an Iftar ceremony at the City Mosque in Kota Kinabalu.
