KUCHING: Politicians at all levels must stay away from practising divisive politics as it will only serve to divide the people.
Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said for rural dwellers, it is important that they stick together and not split among themselves.
“Everyone must be united and not be easily picked apart despite our differences in political affiliations and beliefs.
“Leaders from all levels as well as politicians must ensure that their actions do not cause the community to break apart,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Earlier, Penguang officiated at a dialogue session with villagers at Rh Drahman Sidu, Sg Lutong Atas in Marudi.
He reminded community leaders of their role and responsibility to represent the government at the grassroots level.
At the event, Penguang presented RM20,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grant to the village safety and development committee (JKKK) of Rh Drahman and another RM5,000 to its Women’s Bureau.
