KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has urged Sarawakians to refrain from vigilante behaviour following the recent Molotov cocktail incident at KK Mart in Satok.

Its Stakan branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok in a statement, cautioned against such behaviour as it mirrors recent incidents in the peninsula.

“Racial tensions are escalating there, and we call upon true Sarawakians to lead by example and avoid resorting to violence.

“We have laws in our country, and it is imperative that we abide by them rather than taking matters into our own hands.

“If everyone starts dispensing their own form of justice, it will only lead to chaos and violence becoming the norm,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the police, Sim asserted that the public should have faith that the perpetrator responsible for the recent Molotov cocktail incident will be swiftly apprehended.

“Nevertheless, we trust that rationality will prevail,” he said, appealing to the public to remain calm and to place their trust in the legal system.

“Let us uphold the peaceful nature of Sarawak that we all cherish,” he said.
