Don’t take Covid-19 spread lightly

KUCHING: Residents in the Kuala Rajang constituency are urged to remain vigilant at all times amid the surge of Covid-19 cases statewide.

In issuing this reminder, Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said residents must heed the warnings by the authorities over the current situation.

“I hope the people of Kuala Rajang do not take lightly the spread of this pandemic and continue to abide by the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“This along with physical distancing must be practised when outside or at work,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (May 2).

He was commenting on the trend of cases state-wide where a total of 445 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths were recorded last Saturday.

He said the transmission of Covid-19 in Sarawak is still at an alarming level and the authorities are working hard with various approaches taken to arrest the spike of new cases.

“Yesterday (Saturday), there were 445 Covid-19 cases in Sarawak and thankfully, there were no cases for Sarikei and Tanjung Manis areas,” he said.

Len said the community needs to work together to break the Covid-19 chain.

“One of them is to comply with the SOPs set by the Health Ministry, always wear a face mask, and keep clean no matter where you are,” he said.
