KUALA LUMPUR:  Education and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee empathised with students who had fallen into believing the Pakatan Harapan’s 14th general election propaganda that they would abolish the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan if they won the election.

“I feel sorry for them (students) for making the wrong decision based on the election propaganda,” he said.

He added that PH had used PTPTN as a propaganda tool to gain students’ support during the election (GE14).

“The fact is that PTPTN loan cannot be abolished,” he pointed out when met by reporters after a forum session held in conjunction with the ‘Lan Berambeh Sarawak 2019’ held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here yesterday.

On Yayasan Sarawak student loans, Dr Annuar said the foundation was currently looking into the right re-payment mechanism for borrowers.

On the issue of streamless schools as proposed by Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik, Dr Annuar Rapaee quipped: “What is good should be maintained rather than changing something white into black.”
