Dr Sim: Be patient, it’s going to be a long night

KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has called on everyone to be patient as it will be a long night before the results of the 15th general election (GE15) are known.

He said it would take time and to tally the votes from the various polling stations before the overall results are announced.

“Therefore, I hope everyone will be patient. For Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), we will definitely try our best to make sure that Sarawak’s interest comes first,” he said told reporters after casting his vote at the Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Chung Hua Sungai Tapang Hilir voting centre in Batu Kawah this morning (Nov 19).

Commenting on the voting process, Dr Sim who is the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president and Batu Kawah assemblyman, said thankfully the weather condition was fair which saw many voters coming out to vote.

“At the same time, the voting process has been very peaceful and this shows the maturity level of democracy in Sarawak.

“Of course, we have a good campaigning period, but it is up to the people’s wisdom to decide the next leaders,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Sim and his wife, Datin Seri Eng Ong, arrived at the voting centre at 9.10 am. The couple cast their votes at around 9.45 am.
