TATAU: A tanker driver was killed in a head-on collision with another lorry at KM11, Jalan Tatau-Bintulu this morning.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred around 11am when both motor vehicles collided with each other when travelling from opposite directions.

Investigations found that the tanker travelling towards Bintulu was believed to have gone out of control and swerved into the opposite lane before colliding with the lorry that was travelling towards Tatau town.

He noted that as a result of the collision, the tanker driver identified as Indit Lunyong, 54, was pronounced dead at the site of the incident by paramedics.

The victim’s body was brought to Bintulu Hospital for post mortem.

The driver of the other lorry, along with three passengers aged 20 to 35, were not harmed in the accident.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
