SIBU: A lorry driver was killed in a collision between two lorries in Mile 13, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu on Wednesday (Sept 29).

The victim, identified as Kong Sii Cheng, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

Meanwhile, the other driver suffered a fracture in his right shoulder and is currently receiving treatment at Sibu Hospital.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said initial investigation found that the 3.05pm accident happened after one of the lorries lost control while travelling from Sibujaya towards Jalan Stapang.

“The driver, 29, lost control of the vehicle when it was going through a hilly road causing the back of the lorry to swerve to the opposite side.

“As a result, another lorry coming from Jalan Stapang hit the right side of the lorry,” he said on Thursday (Sept 30).

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
