KUCHING: A driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes, and the result was, to say the least, bad.

His four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle rammed into a stationery car in front, causing both vehicles to crash through the glass wall of a convenience store at a petrol station along Kuching-Samarahan expressway.

In the 2.15pm incident yesterday, the 4WD driver was making his way into the petrol station while the sedan car was had stopped to refuel.

There were three people in the car when the accident happened.

According to eye witnesses, a woman was about to refuel her car, which had three people sitting inside, when the 4WD vehicle rammed onto it.

There were no reports of injuries in the incident. The 4WD driver later lodged a police report over the incident.

The other freak incident occurred at the Temenggong Abang Kipali Abang Akip underpass here when a tour bus was stuck after ignoring the 2.2-metre height limit.

It is understood that the bus was on its way to Petra Jaya from Satok.

The bus managed to exit the underpass with its roof damaged.
