MIRI: Subis District has been chosen as a ‘one stop community centre’ for drug abuse eradication study, revealed Miri Resident, Sherrina Hussaini yesterday after chairing a meeting with Drug Eradication Action Council, Miri level.

The district, which is located about 45km from Miri has been chosen as a pilot project for the council’s efforts in eradicating drug abuse activities, especially in the rural areas.

A total 34 government agencies were involved in the programme, which among others, included the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and the police.

“The pilot project also involves community leaders whereby they will be providing us with useful profiling data on people residing in the area,” said Sherrina.

She added, such information are crucial for agencies like AADK and the police.

She said, if the programme becomes a success, they would extend it to other areas.
