Drug dealers arrested within 10 minutes of each other

Ecstasy pills valued at RM1,440 were confiscated by Kuching narcotics police.

KUCHING: Police arrested two men within 10 minutes of each other for drug possession on Friday (Sept 4).

District deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said a narcotics team made the first arrest around 12.20am at an entertainment centre in the city.

The 53-year-old man was found in his possession various drugs – 158 Erimin 5 pills (51.36g), 76 ecstasy pills (35.83g) and 15 packets of ketamine (30.85g).

“The man, who has no criminal record, along with the drugs valued at RM9,970, were taken to Kuching police station for further action.

“He tested negative for drug use, and is currently remanded to facilitate investigation under Section 39B, Section 39A(2) and Section 12 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” added Supt Merbin.

The second arrest took place at 12.30am near an entertainment centre in the city.

The 34-year-old man had 24 ecstasy pills weighing 9.58g, worth RM1,440. Both the man and the drugs were also taken to Kuching police station for further action.

He tested positive for amphetamine use and does not have a criminal record.

He is being remanded to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Supt Merbin revealed that during questioning, both men said they paid for the drugs via ‘bank in’ and the supply would be delivered by a local dealer to a designated location for pick up.

Police are tracking down those involved.
