Druggie nabbed at car park

BINTULU: A technician at a private company here, was arrested by police at a car park at Mile 5, Bintulu-Miri Road today.

District police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the 28-year-old is believed to be involved in drug distribution activities around Bintulu.

“Inspections found four straw tubes containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu, kept inside the face mask worn by the suspect.

“The drugs weighing 5.1g and has a market value of about RM600, were seized as evidence,” he said.

He added that the suspect tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted under Section 39A (1), the suspect may be jailed up to five years and given nine lashes of the rotan.

Meanwhile for offences under Section 15 (1)(a), he faces up to RM5,000 in fine or jail term not exceeding two years.
