Drugs worth over RM160k seized, two arrested

MIRI: Police arrested two men and seized five packages of drugs worth more than RM160,000 in a raid here last Monday (June 28).

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the raid, carried out by narcotics officers took place around 4pm in a house at Jalan Acacia 3, Shang Garden.

The two suspects believed to be involved in drug activities were detained at the house.

Further inspections led to the discovery of five plastic packages containing crystalline lumps believed to be methamphetamine.

“The drugs weighing 4,642g and valued over RM167,000, were seized as evidence,” Hakemal told in a press conference today (July 2).

Investigations found that the suspects, aged 30 and 36 respectively, did not have any past records. They were tested positive for drugs.

Hakemal said they are being remanded for six days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
