Duo arrested for having drugs worth over RM20k

KUCHING: Two persons were arrested by police for possessing RM21,960 worth of drugs on Thursday.

According to State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) acting chief DSP Tumar Lunya, the suspects, aged 21 and 28, were picked up around 2.40pm.

The seized drugs and items following Thursday’s arrests.

Acting on information, the first suspect was arrested at a residential parking lot in Jalan Tun Jugah here.

“The suspect, who was in his vehicle, surrendered a box with drugs believed to be 17 packets of ketamin weighing 800gms, and 18 ecstasy pills weighing 6gms.

“The team were then led to the suspect’s home where the second suspect was arrested,” he said in a statement.

A plastic container with drugs suspected to be 34 packets of ketamin (70gms), a packet of syabu (50gms), and 28 ecstasy pills (10gms) were also found.

Police seized the suspect’s car, a plastic sealer, RM1,700 in cash, and jewellery.

DSP Tumar added that the suspects tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and benzo.

They are currently under remand and are investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
