
MIRI: Two individuals were detained by the police for allegedly shoplifting from a supermarket in Lutong on Thursday.
The suspects, a man and woman aged 20 and 25, were initially apprehended by the supermarket’s security guards before being surrendered to the police for further investigation.
Prior to their arrest, the duo attempted to shoplift several items including mutton, perfumes, and clothes.
They were detained at around 2pm and the security guards alerted the police.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
