Duo arrested for theft of motorcycle

MIRI: Police detained a local man for allegedly stealing a motorcycle less than 24 hours after the bike was reported stolen in Krokop here.

The 27-year-old suspect was picked up in Pujut Adong around 7pm on Tuesday by a team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The suspect then led the cops to a buyer of the motorcycle — a 39-year-old Indonesian man in a house at Pujut Adong.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Indonesian man had bought the motorcycle for RM400 from the suspect.

Police also seized the stolen motorcycle.

The motorcycle’s owner discovered his machine missing from a parking spot near a building in Krokop around 5am on Tuesday.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
