Two men's bid to smuggle 20 LPG tanks out to Indonesia, were foiled by the GOF.

SRI AMAN: Two men were busted by the General Operations Force (GOF) for attempting to smuggle 20 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks out to Indonesia on Tuesday (June 29).

GOF Sarawak Brigade commander SAC Saini Bongkek who confirmed the case, said the incident happened around 7pm when a patrol team from Sungai Paku Post detained a suspicious-looking vehicle at Jalan Sungai Paku, Ulu Undop heading to Kampung Sebangkoi.

“Inspections found two men in the vehicle and both of them did not their identification cards.

“Further inspections also found that they were transporting 20 LPG tanks in red and green colours bearing the word Petronas,” he told.

When asked further, the suspects said they were sending the gas tanks to the Indonesia border using a rat trail (jalan tikus).

As a result, both men along with the seized items (LPG tanks and vehicle) worth RM33,000, were handed over to Sri Aman police for further action.
